Open-air museum  Bruegel in the  Pajottenland

1701 Sint- Anna – Pede (Itterbeek)

The open-air museum “Bruegel in the Pajottenland” in Dilbeek has been open to visitors since 2004. You can walk the Bruegel path or cycle the Bruegel route and, along the way, admire 19 large-scale reproductions of paintings by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, also called Pieter I Bruegel.

Twelve reproductions were selected because they contain – some definitely, others probably – recognizable elements of Dilbeek and the Pajottenland. Seven others illustrate the many talents of Bruegel.

One reproduction is placed behind the Dilbeek town hall. The 18 others are positioned along the Bruegel walking path (8 km) and the northern loop of the Bruegel bicycle route (45 km).

Both paths start off from the small church of St. Anna Pede, which can be reached from Brussels Midi Station by bus 118 of De Lijn or by car coming from exit 13 of the ring round Brussels. Map

A dvd (GB,F,D, NL/ 15 min/€ 5,00),a brochure (GB,F,D, 48 pages, € 3,00) and the bicycle route pamphlet (€ 1,75) can be ordered from toerisme@dilbeek.be
